The last two weeks in art have been short. We had two days off this week and classes were shorter. We still got a lot done. We started two new projects, and I finished one! We worked mostly on printing and our culmination project.
Our culmination projects are coming along nicely. I have colored two and a half of my bottles and all but one of my birds. One of my bottles was done with water color pencils, one with cool colors, and i am halfway through the warm colored one. We are using a different color scheme on each bottle. All of my birds look good. We shaded them by using a different shading method on each bird. For example we used stippling, hatching, cross hatching, and contour to name a few. I cannot wait to see how it looks completed.
We also did some printing. The first kind of printing we did was gelli printing. We put paint on our gelli plates, and used many textures and methods to make our prints. I made about six practice prints before making my final. I have finished gelli printing. THe next type of printing we started was collagraph printing. So far we have only made design ideas for our printing plates. The plates will have five different textures on them. We will continue on this project next week.
We also had our sketchbook assignments. We had our fourth word prompt, and a few tutorials put into one assignment. My word for my word prompt was dictum. Dictum means an often used saying. I drew a sassy pot with the line "a watched pot never boils" over it. For our tutorial assignment we drew a ribbon, three eggs in a cloth, and the different still lifes of fabric. We had a tutorial for the ribbon and the eggs in our text book. I think that I did all right on the ribbon. but i had some problems drawing the eggs on the fabric. Shading has never been one of my better abilities. I hope to get better at shading eventually,
