Our final project of the semester was a large painting of fruit. We used some charcoal and acrylic paint on paper canvas for our projects. We picked complementary color schemes and then started by painting our backgrounds the color we wanted our fruit to be. Then we painted over that layer with the color we wanted our background to be. This gave the background an interesting value as some of the base color still shone through. Next, we sketched out the basic contours and shading of our fruit with charcoal over the paint. We then started to paint our fruit.
I really enjoyed painting and creating layers on my apples. It was so much fun to watch them start to really look like the reference photos. I had not done much with paint before so this was going to be a challenge for me initially. Once I got into the project, I really enjoyed it. I definitely want to explore and experiment more with paint now that I know that i really enjoy it.
I am very happy about how this project turned out in the end. It looks amazing and I am very proud of it. We only spent five days on this project and I was impressed by how much I got done in such a small amount of time.
